Thanks for visiting my site!
I am a professional musician with nearly 30 years experience providing music education and entertainment to a wide variety of people throughout the West Coast, Hawai'i, New York and Florida.
As a performer, I have provided music for over 1,000 wedding ceremonies, a few hundred receptions, private parties, memorials, dozens of theatre productions and more. I have appeared on stage as a featured performer, conductor or accompanist with Solano Symphony, San Francisco City Summer Opera, San Francisco Cabaret Opera, Honolulu Symphony Chorus, Maui Symphony Chorus, La Sorellanza, the Gay Men's Chorus of Honolulu, SATBQ: The Women's Chorus of Honolulu, Na Leo Nahenahe, the Honolulu Chorale, Campolindo High School, South Coast Chorale, the Jewish Folk Chorus of San Francisco, Oakland-East Bay Gay Men's Chorus, Equal Voices, California Choristers, Alameda Civic Light Opera, Hillbarn Theatre, Coastal Repertory Theatre, Honolulu Men's Chorus and Miami Children's Theatre to name a few.
For most of my career, I have been a music educator and that is still a passion. I love teaching music to students of all ages and abilities. I have taught private piano, voice and conducting as well as classroom instruction for choral groups, music theory, music history and appreciation, musical theatre performance and general music. Among the institutions for which I have held faculty appointments are Kap'iolani Community College, Honolulu Community College, Hawai'i Tokai International College, Hawai'i Pacific University, San Francisco Community Music Center, New Roads School, the Academy of the Pacific, Aiea High School, Oakland School for the Arts, Westlake School for the Performing Arts and American Musical Theatre of San Jose.
A life-long learner myself, I have had the opportunity to work and study with many fine teachers. I hold a Master of Arts degree in music education/choral from the University of Hawaii at Manoa and a Bachelor of Music degree in music education/piano from the State University of New York at Potsdam.
Among the fine piano teachers I have had are Edward Shipwright, Frank Iogha and Phyllis Elmer. My voice teachers include Catherine Cook, Laurence Paxton, John Mount, Lois Vacarriello and Anitra Lynch. I learned accompanying from Beebe Freitas, Patricia Misslin and Gary Busch, conducting from Timothy Carney, Calvin Gage and Brock McElheran and harp from Arlene Wangler. I am fortunate to have had the guidance of these and other incredible musicians. I try to bring the best of each of them into my own teaching and performing.
